The Playa Sámara on the west coast of the Nicoya Peninsula is often considered as one of the most beautiful and safest beaches of Costa Rica. It is protected by a coral reef and is therefore ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

The bay is quiet and flow poorer than most beaches on the Pacific side . The best time to visit the northern part of the Pacific coast is open all year. There is little rain and it has less humidity as in the south. The average temperature is 30 to 35 degrees Celsius all over the whole year. The average water temperature is 24 to 26 degrees Celsius.

A further very beautiful beach located on Playa Carillo, the bay just next door. Many other beaches are located north and south, including those which are known for their surf spots.

The small town of Sámara, which we also like to call a village, feels quite authentic and is a popular vacation spot.

Many small shops stretch along the main road to the beach where you can find a couple of bars and restaurants.

There you will find many souvenir and art shops, supermarkets, restaurants with local or gourmet cuisine.

The population is in the meantime quite international, which also contributes to the special flair in this pretty village.
